Rediculous.

It still has discrepancies, but it will have to do.

This is what I started with...

I feel more like a digital painter than a photographer at this point. I know Timothy Hogan must have had some retouching done to his original, but what I did to mine is just ridiculous. Seriously though.

No, but seriously.

Lipps Inc.

I tried to recreate this ad (by Timothy Hogan) for my class:

and I have this sorry excuse that I'm still working on:

The highlights are all wrong, I totally dropped in gradients on the middle section, the drip on the blade is misshapen, the drops at the bottom aren't even there, there's even a terrible dodge job on the bottom part. Let's just not mention how the lighting on the razor blade isn't even close. Talk about a work in progress...

Want to model for me? You'll get free MAC lipstick!!! It's just had a razor blade stuck in it, it's still good. I tried it. (just kidding, I didn't try it. But it is still good.)

It was kind of awkward hanging out at the lipstick section at Nordstrom... the clerk sure was helpful though =)

Ben & Carrie

Ben and Carrie are a couple. Of my favorite people. They're cool like that. So we hung out, and I brought something with me to help us remember it.

We laughed,

We cried,

We visited the windmills,

and rested in the tall grass,

We even saw a million birds in the sky all at once,

and then rested in the tall grass some more.

These are some quality people.

Last August...

(Bethany came and helped me out... and shamed me by taking way better pictures than me, like this one. But I forgive her.)

... Ashley and John sealed the deal for all eternity. The photos finally got edited. Here they is.

Mexican watch

I bought it for $12. And it's actually waterproof.

(I still have to edit this, I just wanted to get something new up for now)

My long lost twin

Erik Almas is simply amazing.

I've loved him for quite a while, but just recently came across an interview he had, and I that is where I found my favorite quote of the century:

"But I mean how can you not like shooting beautiful women?"

I do. I shoot them all the time. Erik and I were twins in the pre-mortal existence. In fact, we were siamese twins, joined at the brain. I'm slowly catching up.

Just add water

It turns out that lotion actually looks like butter unless you water it down. It took me 2 hours to figure that out.

I was actually supposed to shoot a dove bar floating in water... then I got this idea. I still have to shoot it floating in water. Maybe next week. (I'll definitely touch this one up, I need to go to bed for now.)

Spoon: part II

I think I got pretty close to what I was envisioning...maybe I'll try something like it again in the future.

Any thoughts on the color or fabric?

a li'l mo'

I had a couple of unfinished rolls of film that I brought to Chelsea & Bart's wedding. I developed and scanned them today.

Ilford HP5 is a modern miracle. That and Kodak E100G make me want to shoot all weddings with film.

Chelsea & Bart

When you shoot weddings you get to photograph people on the happiest day of their lives, and that's why I love it so much.

Spoon

It's a work in progress... I'll be re-shooting it soon. It's going to have the most unbelievably intense paisley-esque fabric behind it. Believe me, I've already scoped it out. I just didn't have time to buy it because I would have been late to class.

I'll have it done by next week. I have to. It's due by Thursday.

P.S. (Spoon also happens to be a sweet band. Check out their music.)

I've got an idea...

I need to get through this weekend before I get started.  It will be pretty fun.
